Grants mostly apply to heat pumps rather than cooling-only air conditioning. Here's what's open right now.
England & Wales
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Open £7,500 (air/ground source) · £2,500 (air-to-air) · £5,000 (biomass)
Property owners in England & Wales replacing a fossil-fuel or standard electric heating system (you cannot already have a heat pump). An MCS-certified installer is required and there is one grant per property. The old EPC requirement was removed in April 2026.
How to apply → Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland support (NISEP)
Open Varies (NISEP, availability patchy)

Income-tested (household income around £20,000 or below, or on qualifying benefits). Property must be in Wales, EPC E or below (D for households with an eligible health condition). Owner-occupied or privately rented with landlord permission.
