Who is eligible?

Property owners in England & Wales replacing a fossil-fuel or standard electric heating system (you cannot already have a heat pump). An MCS-certified installer is required and there is one grant per property. The old EPC requirement was removed in April 2026.

How to apply

Get a quote from an MCS-certified installer (search mcscertified.com). The installer applies through the Ofgem portal and deducts the grant directly from your invoice — you never handle the paperwork or wait for a reimbursement.

Good to know

Extended to 2030 (£400m budget for 2026/27). From 21 July 2026 a £9,000 uplift applies for one year to air/ground source heat pumps replacing oil or LPG heating off the gas grid. IMPORTANT: the £2,500 air-to-air (air conditioning) grant is law from 28 April 2026 but is NOT yet practically claimable — no air-to-air products are on the MCS Product Directory and installer certification is stalled pending UKAS sign-off (industry estimate: late summer 2026 at the earliest).
